gonna be real i'm annoyed as hell that chris franklin's otherwise good DD2 post puts "I paid $70, I better get my sixty frames per second!" (his words) as an irrational petty complaint alongside microtransactions and having one save file

honestly you could argue all three of these and how much that whole part is kind of a strawman, but "i paid AAA price for this game and it feels like molasses because the framerate is all over the place" was a perfectly reasonable complaint even before we objectively knew that the game had serious optimization issues

because like yeah. i did preorder this game because i was looking forward to it. i did pay more because the game was already cheaper than $70 before it even came out. and i did return it because i was disappointed that the game had huge framerate drops from the moment i loaded in. what was i supposed to do here, and how is discussing any of that about a "Capitalism Purity Test"?
