Think about all the lgbt representation that has happened in narrative meaningful context over the past decade in popular media (rather than one off tokenism background characters). Notice how it's almost always lesbians?

Capitalism has successfully de-queered any lesbian representation in media

Profit-driven created media is made at the whim of predominantly straight men to contain the eyeballs of predominantly straight men. At this point it is literally more queer for a woman character to be straight and discuss craving cock than it is for her to be portrayed as a lesbian and have a leery romance scene for the benefit of a straight male audience not being made uncomfortable by their own latent homophobia due to a penis potentially being thought about.

The straight male has been desensitized to woman on woman sexuality by copious self-selected access to internet porn, no doubt about it. The self selection is important because it meant that they could give in to all of their self-hatred and social conditioning to create a bubble without the traditional portrayal of male sexuality found in the generic heterosexual pornography of a previous era. A purely female realm where women play out male fantasy without the terrifying presence of a penis reminding the viewer they might be gay.

In a media landscape where anyone can be pulled away at any second by the myriad of other distractions having anything challenging to the consumpter is a big nono for retention. So to balance the need for corporate pander marketing to eek out the last wrung drops of the market share they have the perfect token representation in lesbians that they can sprinkle in to anything that needs some "gays" in it. Nobody can get mad at them not having enough representation while at the same time they don't have to turn off the core audience targeted by every single piece of media ever, the young heterosexual male. it's some kind of repressive desublimation blowback to perceived gains under patriarchal capitalism, even once hated identities will be commodified when it is useful.
