The lady in the middle is the leader of a resistance that the powers she fights is struggling to squash, her name is Dawn. The leaders, a group of toms called Kings, of the Branch Bank colony have sentenced her to be banished.
Cornflower, one of the kings, has the power to stop this, but his long life has taught him its best to help her be safe under the kings rule than to fight them.
