I’m kinda realizing how fucking forgettable the Hoenn Elite Four are.
Kanto? First gen, so they’ve got nostalgia factor, plus Lance becomes Champion.
Johto? Karen’s got the iconic line about strong Pokemon and weak Pokemon, plus Koga’s also a Gym Leader in the Kanto games.
Sinnoh? Batshit insane teams, plus I think Flint has a story role outside of the League.
Unova? Caitlin was in Platinum, and Grimsley appears in the Alola games.
Kalos? Malva’s part of Team Flare, plus they’re a laughingstock along with the rest of the game.
Alola? All except Kahili have substantial story roles.
Paldea? Rita won the poll for most attractive character among women in Japan, Poppy’s a toddler in the fucking Elite Four, Larry’s also a Gym Leader, and Hassel is a major NPC.
Hoenn? You never see them outside of the League, and the little presence they do have is barely impactful. The only mildly interesting thing about them is the ghost girl in Phoebe’s room, and that’s like for a split second and I don’t think is among the more popular of the Pokemon spooky moments. And they’re just Karen/Grimsley But Worse, Acerola But Worse, Lorelei But Worse, and Lance But Worse. Everything they do, another Elite does better. I would be genuinely surprised if they are anyone’s blorbos.
