Wakaba's flashback gets the salmon border, matching the early part of Utena's flashback, etc. And the Onion Prince gets princely white. Does seem like this episode is making Wakaba mirror Utena in an odd way. But Wakaba herself gets a brown rose border, which I don't think we've seen before but does match her hair.

There is an interesting dynamic where onion dude seems to be shipping Wakaba with Utena and Utena's shipping her with him. I guess Wakaba reacts so strongly because of how oblivious Utena is to her? Does that mean Wakaba's going to black rose this episode?

This shadow puppet bit about the tire store… it ties into Wakaba making Utena a bentō at the start of the episode, but also it seems to be about someone not really knowing what they're looking for, or something?

The bit where onion dude has this dramatic confession in the third person and Wakaba misunderstands is pretty choice though.

Is the black rose place just advertised as a counseling center, so he's just like "my childhood friend just broke my heart, I should probably talk to someone about this" and wanders in without any intention of some over-the-top revenge deal? He seems pretty confused by it. But I guess he's heard rumors, which implies it's more of an urban legend sort of deal than an official school facility.

Oh, interesting, you must be (sign with a mascot) THIS evil to become a black rose duelist, not just an ordinary over-dramatic middle-schooler.

Wait, what the fuck? Saionji? I'd totally forgotten about that angle.

But it looks like she does become a Black Rose duelist somehow anyways next episode? Guess I'll have to wait and see.
