this was a thoughtful question so i wanted to think about it for a bit. it's also a subject where lines get blurred a little between me the One Writing This and feelings channeled into art/characters.
it's hard to not just go with the expected and say full moon and blood moon even though i think there's something to like about all moons. but really it's a collaboration with the moon and clouds. then you get the dancing moonbeams which i think are what's actually Good for Deers.
on a character level, in some older art we see that the deer have a living moon, which is something i want to do more with. i always thought of it as a kind of avatar or battery. and a blood moon has always been on the backburner for something i want to draw a piece about someday. maybe i'll start thinking about that more now.
