@remeranAuthor asked:

Are there any games that have cancelled/scrapped possibly mostly complete but chose not to include 2 Player modes that one might not expect to have 2 player modes that you think are interesting/funny?

why yes, an early prototype of Ecco 2: The Tides of Time happens to have a cut two-player mode, in a game where you would probably never expect one. it didn't last, either; i'm honest to god surprised they bothered.

the ecco 2 prototypes are one of the main things that really got me into the whole cut data stuff. there used to be a nice website detailing a bunch of it, but the guy behind it sucked pretty bad and it's long gone now. i had the first ecco growing up and couldn't get past Undercaves, but it was always a really fascinating game growing up, and it's just one of those really weird games you never really see.

anyway, it's 25 years later and one of my 'sona forms is a shark. thanks, ecco.

Ah yes, the old days of "the only way to discover cut content was Some Guy's webpage". Shout outs to one of those white whales for being one of the things that's pushing me to try and get back to where I can dig into some DOS stuff and recreate long-dead data on an unfinished 90s CRPG which I saw one time in the 2000s before that site collapsed into the void. Origin stories!
