This is my new favorite way to explain this. You can't do genuine good without making a couple of mistakes along the way. you want Better (moral, correct), not to Be Perfect (unattainable ideal, harmful).
Perfect is what the opposition says you should be (and even expect from you), knowing full well you will never please or appease them.
Better is what your fellows need.
Honestly if you took everything internet obsessives said at face value, you'd draw the conclusion that POC were the real racists.
BUT imo this is the case because it's mostly people on the prowl for 'gotchas' rather than genuine talking points.
like said before, pretty straightforward to bring this to people's attention without the denunciations and finger wagging!
