Major spoilers / speculation for Gundam Witch

Not only is the grudge too long for Suletta to be Eri, but also!!

  1. Most people have an orange… rash? During a GUND data storm
  2. Eri had a blue one, indicating that it wasn’t harming her
  3. Suletta… doesn’t have one at all?

I think Eri is in the Gundam Ariel somehow, and Suletta isn’t piloting a machine in a traditional sense. That’s what Elan sees when the Ariel rips the Pharact apart: Eri’s ghost in the machine

holy shit that sure was an episode huh

i was screaming about it with friends and went back to check something, and i think there's a bit in the opening scene where the English subtitles aren't quite able to preserve the full nuance. standard disclaimer that i'm not a native Japanese speaker, but i'm fairly confident in my reading here.

spoilers through the opening scene of G-Witch episode 6, speculation about major plot twists

so, right before the OP plays, Lady Prospera is on the phone, talking about the upcoming duel. in the subtitles i have, she's saying "Aerial will surely win. I trust my darling daughter."

so we're all doing a big HMMMMM, is she talking about Suletta or Aerial there? i gave it another listen, and in Japanese it's much less "could go either way" and more "there is just enough plausible deniability that you could still argue she might be talking about Suletta."

エアリアルは勝つわ。私の可愛い娘だもの。

a few possible translations, with varying levels of directness and charitability:

  • "Aerial will win. It's my darling daughter we're talking about."
  • "Aerial will win. It's my darling daughter, after all."
  • "Aerial will win. It's my darling daughter."

Japanese elides the subjects of sentences a lot, so there's just enough ambiguity that she could be talking about Suletta, but. it's really not subtle at all, as far as i can tell.
