heard a lot of people praising this segment as an incredible promo for both guys, and honestly they're right, i'm enjoying it! but i cannot fucking get over the crowd. i have never been able to get past main roster WWE crowds, especially ever since NXT took off and AEW came around. they'll pop for a couple big lines, but for the rest of the time these guys are talking they're like... not reacting at all. it sounds like they're barely paying attention?

like i don't think it's an example of the crowd being so into a promo that they're hanging on every word, dead silent eyes wide as they take in everything being said. this doesn't feel like that at all. this feels like a bunch of people having conversations amongst themselves and when enough people who are actually listening start cheering they all stop their conversations and go CM PUNK! CM PUNK! or CO-DY! CO-DY! and then get right back to it when the noise dies down

maybe i'm just too deep in the AEW style and fan engagement but there are lines in this promo that are scathing, that i'd expect a pretty big "OOOOOH" from the crowd for, but a lot of them barely get anything. a handful of people cheer, most people just continue to mumble to each other. i don't really get why you're going to wrestling shows if you're not gonna throw yourself into it. just get lost in it for a few hours, man. you're there. you're part of the show. unless they're giving you complete fucking shit, get into it!
