i just watched collision and there's one thing sticking out to me. the whole deal between daniel garcia and adam copeland is really intriguing because i feel like it's the perfect way to measure whether or not the booking is getting more interesting and creative. and mind you this is all based on the fact that i do not care about adam copeland:

the story between them is that garcia's been getting wins and put up a challenge for copeland's spot against christian cage at revolution. AEW tends to make safe booking decisions, so i'm expecting a copeland win. but i feel like the alternative is a far more interesting story for everyone involved, and if AEW takes that chance, i honestly might be ready to say They're Back

like think about it. garcia is getting some momentum now that the rankings are back after spending months kinda drifting and basically only taking losses. copeland is losing his fucking mind over how christian has screwed him over, to the point that he's doing stupid shit like not letting go of the handshake to be like "i was gonna beat you up right here and now but i'm not" which is. not babyface behaviour to say the least

garcia getting a surprise victory and taking that spot from him could be his breaking point. maybe he goes berserk after losing. maybe he doesn't. maybe he tries really hard to get past it, succeeds or doesn't. i think it's a lot more interesting a direction for copeland to take a loss in his open challenge right when it matters the most. meanwhile garcia gets another huge win over an established star, we get a far more interesting matchup for revolution (although it probably doesn't carry the same kind of narrative weight that AEW PPV matches tend to have, and i question the ability to create that kind of build in two weeks) and, depending on how the story plays out from that point, potentially some interesting wrinkles in the christian/copeland story. or maybe it'd totally derail it and take the focus off of who it was supposed to be about. who knows

i just really don't want to see christian/copeland again. i need something more than that. but it feels pretty obvious to me that this match is being used to secure copeland's place as #3 contender, and christian will come out afterwards and announce their match at revolution

idk. this is a lot to write for a match that's almost certainly not gonna pan out this way
