been playing through dragon's dogma again before the release of DD2 and i guess i'm not alone in that because three times now i've had people use my pawn enough that i got a significant amount of rift crystals from them. it's kinda cool to engage with the game like this again, actually thinking about how to make my pawn useful to other players as well as myself

dragon's dogma fucking rules and is one of the best action games ever made and every time i find myself in a tense battle i get reminded of it over and over and over. and they're making another one now?? a new one?? What the fuck

sometimes you can be in the middle of a normal fight with goblins and wolves and harpies when all of a sudden you see a giant shadow and you realize there's a FUCKING GRIFFIN CIRCLING YOU and now this fight just got 10x more interesting because it's like, do i focus on the enemies that can actually hit me right now or do i never let the griffin out of my sight in case it dives? and then if it does join the battle, do i try to prevent it from flying away or do i continue to focus on the normal enemies?

well, how do i prevent it from flying? do i jump on it and start slashing its wings? do i enchant my party's weapons with fire and burn its wings? maybe i should throw oil on it so it burns easier? how do i do all this while dealing with the group of enemies i was still in the middle of fighting?

and these are just some of the options i had available to me with the mystic knight class. other skills or other classes would change the strategies drastically

of course, what actually ended up happening is it never landed and just flew away and i continued to smash these harpies like it was nothing. but all that shit i was making up totally coulda happened for sure

this game's cool. they're doing another one like this

It's wild that there are people playing it all the time on all the platforms, it feels like. I did a stream series a little bit ago where I beat the game over the course of a couple months, and every time we'd log in to play on my Xbox for that week we'd have RC and other stuff. It ruled!

wow, that's surprising! i feel like any time i've played it i've barely gotten any interaction. although i did end up spending a lot of time playing offline specifically because nobody ever seemed to be playing so maybe there was a revival in interest at some point that i missed
