Like many people of a certain age, I had the various paperback collections of Peanuts comics. Before Garfield standardized the long-strip format, many comic strips would have their layout changed for paperback format. Some editions, they would add screen-tones, often with bizarre elements (I remember one Fourth-of-July strip that had a giant gray 4️⃣ plastered over it.
MAD Magazine also had collections, with jokes from pop culture much, much before my time. As well as some unique stories, too. I don't think we'll see black-and-white comics in paper-back size ever again. (Though I'm sure manga will still be around for a while.)
