I lived in multiple houses in a row where the bathroom lightswitch was in the hallway. None of these houses predated electric lights. I don't understand how this happens.
this is actually the case in the house we're currently renting (and having to leave), except somehow even stupider.
there's a light switch outside of the bathroom. the light switch controls the light-up mirror in the bathroom. the light-up mirror has its own on/off button on the mirror itself.
the light switch is also a dimmer switch. setting the dimmer anywhere but the top setting makes the mirror shut off.
the mirror light is also dimmable by just holding the button on the mirror.
none of any of this makes sense and it makes less sense the more you think about it. (oh, and there's a light switch inside the bathroom, too, for ... more lights.)
