the old days of sol nerdery, when it was still getting updated regularly in response to player activity.
i was never as into it as some of the deepest people, but as someone with a passing interest in weird video game worlds, pseudo-ARGs, and mysteries, i kept up with it.
but imagine trying to explain to someone that, in this one multiplayer round-based game, where every round is about 60 minutes,
you and a handful of other people had to go across multiple worlds, fighting super-difficult bosses to get a huge assortment of keys
all to discover that the next, newest obstacle
required you to make jet fuel melt steel beams.
there's more...
behind the every-key door and the steel beams was a small, square room full of shimmering circles... and as it was revealed later, they were nothing more than reskinned toilets. the every-key door itself was /obj/nerd_trap.
we had all been played for fools.
