safeway has started selling their "safeway third party marketplace" items inline.

when you're shopping for a pickup order, these used to be separated out (and thus, adblockable); random offers for far-more-expensive shit, shipped. there is no way to remove these ones any more.

safeway's website is uniquely terrible in almost every possible way; it is slow, unresponsive, and every change effectively takes 5 seconds -- after which it will focus back on whatever you added, or revert your changes, or

it just keeps getting worse. grocery ordering on walmart's website in 2020 was easy and simple, and then they continually made it worse (blurring delivery/pickup/shipping, eventually just getting too terrible to rely on). safeway's is quickly going down the same tube.

it's wild how they constantly fuck up the basics of "a website where you can give us money".

Kroger/QFC have gone down this path recently too. It's infuriating. I'm only going to the website to see if they have something in stock, not if I can order it for delivery for more money than it'd be to get from Amazon and from a worse company.

i hate this. it's the only way i can order delivery groceries with EBT in my area when i'm sick or don't have transportation and i hate that they keep making it Worse. why the FUCK does the Safeway website even need third-party products!!!! that is not a store i think of when i think of the Infinite Marketplace!

they don't want money. they never did. none of these companies want money. the idea of trading a service or good for money is anathema to them. they want tokens for playing a game that gets them more wealth than we can possibly imagine, at some incredible distance where none of us can even perceive the effect. they don't care that giving them money through their website is hard because our money is simply worthless to them. the entire population of the united states, collectively, could not dump enough money into their bottom line to make them notice it. we exist for absolutely no other reason than to bait aliens into giving other aliens monopoly money that somehow makes them into gods.

time and time again I find myself missing that brief time right before 2019 where grocery chains were finally having okay websites, with somewhat useful searching tools and accurate stock. especially when shopping for specialty/dietary restriction stuff for people
