i will forever maintain the fact that the real boomer shooters are anything 2D released before the late 80's (when baby boomers were most likely to stop playing video games). and not first person shooters from the 2010s onward trying to emulate mid-90's design tropes (all with varying degrees of proficiency). i read a review for crimzon clover on the polish game store website saying that it was a shit game because there were too many things on screen, and that gun-nac is the better game because of that.
and i read another comment on a r*ddit post displaying the lack of slowdown on cave's SH3 hardware in mame that was like "no wonder the genre (of 2d shooting games) fell off".
