Oooh, this is the first I've heard of Sonic R Updater! I've got the 1998 version on CD still, and it's been years since I played. 😅
Also, I definitely remember accidentally clipping out of bounds looking for balloons in Resort Island as a kid.
oh god, I want to see some of the awful corrupt memory outside of out-of-bounds space. that sounds positively dreadful and I mean this in the most enthusiastic way :D
