I play a lot of farming sims/Harvest Moon-likes. I would go as far as to say I've played most of the indie ones. And it is incredible to me how BAD a lot of them are at having attractive dudes that would be someone's type. Can't tell you how many games I've seen where the lineup of girls is all a bunch of easily recognized archetypes of romance and then all the guys are just dudes in a t-shirt and sweatpants.

Even Story of Seasons has been bad about this!! Did you see those designs for the Wonderful Life remake? They made all the boys look more dateable than they were originally, but they got there by flattening their characters to nothing.

We need women in game development so they can draw some goddamn attractive men.

u are SO correct for this op
do you have any post listing/reviewing your fave indie farming sims? i'd wanna try more of them but there's an overwhelming amount of options

I'm super picky when it comes to these games and basically the only one that passes muster (and isn't Stardew Valley) is My Time at Portia/Sandrock, unfortunately! I also like Homestead Arcana but that's more of a Subnautica-style basebuilder; and I'll play Sun Haven and Coral Island but my enjoyment for both rests somewhere around "beats boredom."
