Oh boy! I get to talk about my weird interconnection with Amal El-Mohtar!

So first thing's first. This Is How You Lose The Time War is exquisite. Excellent writing. Beautiful narrative. Love that book. It was wild seeing it blow the fuck up with BDW posting about it, but hey, all publicity is great!

So Amal was also into Blaseball for a little bit. I, happening to be in a blaseball band, the garages, invited her to our server. While she wasn't really able to make time to do anything, it was wild how easy it is to go from "Wow, this author is super cool and really far away!" to "Wait, I can just DM this person and ask them a real quick question."

Granted, that's overselling the level of communication I had with her. But still, neat little coincidence that BDW reminded me of.

Also it was so fucking cool seeing Amal and Max's work get blown the fuck up like that. I know how publishing deals can be, and royalties, and sales like that have got to rule.

Amal is SO cool and nice from my interactions with her on twitter, but also when she was still “wow she’s so cool and far away” for me, imagine just like the absolute horror and elation I had when I saw that she liked a chain of 2am shitposts I had with Cat Manning and Sam Kabo Ashwell followed by “Amal El-Mohtar followed you”
