Unfortunately ended up catching Covid 19 while visiting family for the holiday, which I'm not exactly thrilled about. I am doing good so far, vaccinations are keeping me upright and with minimal symptoms so far. I've been meaning to dip my toes back into VRChat and figure that might be a good way to be more social while I isolate through New Year's Weekend. Does anyone have any good recommendations for cool worlds they like to go to? I haven't played in about 2 years and am playing on PC with no headset if that changes things.
So, if you have a friend who you know plays, I'd recommend seeing if they have a group you can join. We never visit public instances so can't judge the quality of any of these from that perspective.
Some places our groups tend to end up in
- Aero House is a newer one we've ended up in a few times; a pretty futuristic house.
- Luminescent Ledge is a visually outstanding world with a cinema sized video player, perfect for movie night. There's also a LOST inspired bunker!
- Outpost Alpha - Inner Core is a very chill world with heavy inspiration from Outer Wilds.
- Poe's Nightclub/Frightclub are classics for a reason, a compact club with a lot of detail
- Sov's Cosy Club is a club with a lot of neat places for breakout conversations.
- The Clam Club - Nights is a nice spot by the beach, with pool rings you can float in.
- Werehouse Alpha is an atmospheric world with reclaimed spaces.
Other recommendations
- The Afterdark Arcade is a visually striking burst of neon and 80s nostalgia. There's even a really wild video wall room if you want to experience some wild visuals. Not recommended for a group setting though, it tends to be very heavy on most systems.
- Furality makes a number of their worlds publicly available sometime after their events, including the Treehouse Village from Sylva.
- The Pact isn't necessarily the best hangout space, but it is fun to explore; a labyrinth of 1970s technology, things that are just a little off, and very good worldbuilding of a history of synthetic furries. (And if you're going to make comparisons with some of this to Control, that's on the bingo card)
- Undernet Hub is a really creative space with very heavy inspiration from Undertale and Deltarune - it serves as one friend's home world and I can see why every time we visit it.
