this depends entirely on what you're optimizing for, but i reliably find way too many things i like on svaha

their stuff is well made, they have lots of fun patterns, their skirts and dresses have pockets, it's easy to find things that fit me

they are not great if you're on a budget, but if you're on a budget then thrifting is probably a better way to go than online shopping

ive found a few things i really like on modcloth

and ofc there's always sock dreams

i also know some people like black milk; i haven't had as much luck with them myself

ThredUp Ok, so I know this probably isn't the best way to thrift or shop second-hand, but their selection is enormous, and you can pick up some pretty decent stuff on there if you're willing to sort through the endless chaff. Two caveats:

  • Make liberal use of their promo codes, otherwise you will be spending a LOT more. They usually have one going in the top banner of the site, and there are often more than one running at once, but you NEED to manually enter it into the promo code box when checking out. They rarely get auto-applied.
  • Be aware that sometimes they don't have measurements listed for certain garments, I've learned to just avoid those altogether.

Other than that I've had pretty good luck getting stuff that fits and looks nice for pretty cheap. For instance, I just got two pairs of pants: one from GAP, the other from Everlane, for like $26 total.
