man. absolutely brutal article full of interviews from people who've been seriously burned by the games layoffs. Really horrifying the number of people forced to move for jobs that have since evaporated.

I started to question my career choices and if I even wanted to continue on this path. It was really hard for me to start creating anything again, I felt pretty burned out.

i know i've said this before i taught myself to program and be an insufferable computer-toucher because i wanted to work on games but i absolutely could not handle the stress and uncertainty that the churn in this industry would give me

it sucks a lot to see the reason i learned a lot of the things i know devouring itself like this

no regrets about moving out of texas, but being in the midwest and laid off from my remote game industry job means that I'm effectively done with this line of work

maybe in a few years these companies will realize an AI script cannot do all the testing that a human can, but by then I hope to be working in a different industry
