This has always been one of those things I'd think about from time to time. especially since iirc the brain works by building pathways of neurons and using patterns. even if two people think in words, whos to say the pattern for a word is the same between two people? the old "do see color the same way" stuff.

I have a running narration, but I understand things as entire wordless concepts that don't need to be spelled out to be worked on. So sometimes with some effort I can just skip like a chapter ahead in the narration.
i'm kinda similar, but also even the narration thoughts have like.. an underlying layer where entire paragraphs appear fully formed, and then a sort of articulated layer where i actually "read" the words at a more leasurely pace. usually if i decide to i can skip the second layer and think way "faster" but also maybe less precicely
Yes! Exactly. The narration is using well-formed sentences so it has thought ahead and so WE know the content. But trying to skip too far ahead means skipping to the part that's not known yet.
Weirdly enough I had enough conversations about this that one time I drew what was on my mind during one of them
I described it as "mostly visual, but I taught myself to visualize words as if they were in a book or chat or whatever"
Mine depend entirely on context, but often they are stories, scenarios with a plot jumping around according to what is relevant
