day 6 of the yotsuben logo redesign challenge: InGen

the existing InGen logo ain't great, but it looks kind of benign and boring the way most real science lab logos look, and it's attached to one of the most influential movies of all time, so maybe we can cut it some slack.

I had this idea immediately as I started roughing out concepts, and maybe became too married to it, as I spent a lot of time trying to get that dinosaur embryo to look like a "G." it's tough! if this was a real logo job this would definitely only be the halfway point. for one, i've essentially got godzilla junior in the egg, not an actual dinosaur. still, i think i was one the right track with this one!

tomorrow: aperture science!

Thanks! I do all of my work for this project in Adobe Illustrator. I've been a vector-based artist since I was a teen and always felt that gelled well with my personal aesthetics. For pretty much all of these logos I've used existing typefaces I have, with occasionally tweaks by doing the good old > Outline and then directly manipulate. There's a lot of great typeface designers out there these days, and fonts go on sale all the time, so you can get excellently-made font families for reasonable prices.
