day 12 of the yotsuben logo redesign challenge: Benerit Group

now that we've had one goofy logo yesterday, it's back to the tech companies! there's a bunch of logos for the various companies within the Benerit Group, but funnily enough, no logo for the Benerit Group itself (aside from the name of the company set in Helvetica Bold, lol).

given that the top three companies receive special treatment within Benerit, i settled on the triangle shape fairly early and then pulled colors from Delling Rembran's outfit. listen, if it's sci-fi, it's got triangles and patterns... all that good stuff. originally i also started slotting the various three top companies into the circles, but it got too busy. but imagine a "live" digital logo that changes anytime the top three companies change, with each red circle featuring a different company.

tomorrow: capsule corp!

day 11 of the yotsuben logo redesign challenge: The Krusty Krab

well, i've seen my share of spongebob, and listen, we've had a lot of tech companies on the list so far, so it felt like time to get something more offbeat! the base is almost the shape of the krusty krab's existing shell wholesale, with some tweaks and adjustments to make it simpler while still keeping the kind of "off-kilter" and hand-drawn nature of it.

and ah, Swung Note, my friend. i only use you once in a blue moon, but whenever i do you deliver exactly what i need. then, i just roughed the edges up a bit, and now it looks like it could show up on the corner of a menu!

tomorrow: Benerit Group!

day 10 of the yotsuben logo redesign challenge: Encom

well, i'll have to be upfront: this one was a perfect excuse to use Omar Sacca's (aka ortho*) font Arachnology, which they happened to put on sale recently. really great stuff, make sure to check it out!

i think this one is pretty self-explanatory, but hey: it's the light cycles, baby! spent a lot of time fiddling with exact placement of everything, but in the end just kinda felt out the spacing rather than using a ruler for every little bit: bio-digital jazz, man!

tomorrow: the krusty krab!

day 9 of the yotsuben logo redesign challenge: Octan

today is Octan, which might be less known to many folks, as it's an in-universe oil company within the LEGO universe. after lego stopped using real oil company brand logos in their gas station/race car sets, they mainly used this: their fictional oil company Octan.

octan lego sets of various sizes

nowadays Octan is used mostly as a little reference to past sets, although a green energy version of Octan has surfaced in some sets. I really had a tough time coming up with any unique ideas for this one, although the link between oil, plastic, and lego bricks was the obvious maneuver. in the end, i was curious if i could recreate the logo only out of basic, real lego pieces. and you kinda can!

tomorrow: ENCOM!
