It's really amusing to watch someone else go through the same thought processes I did 5-6 years ago.
it's validating to know i'm on the same track as a veteran 
i'm curious now, where did you end up from where i'm at now? (if you don't mind sharing, no pressure!)
I gave up and quit participating in the C++ standard, learned go, and have done devops for a bit 😅
But I've always been "the build system expert", and my soon to be next job is going to be more of that 😆

i just want a language that will let me have nice things without either hacking together libclang scripts or writing a million layers of macros... i'm coming to realize that just generating it whole cloth is probably going to be more fun and more stable than either of those. and definitely faster than waiting for the standard to catch up
