I'm so sorry it's been like that for you. ;a; I've been fairly lucky with laser, although I still get some hairs on my chin. It's definitely a lot less than before I started and it did take like 2 years of sessions to get here but.. I guess overall I'm lucky, trying to get facial hair removed is such a pain.
have you tried electrolysis? that's what i've been doing and i'm curious how it compares... the appealing thing to me about laser is how infrequent the appointments are, but i'm scared it will hurt more or not work as well
I have not... :( I might end up trying it at some point but idk if I can afford it. I went with a like "lifetime" plan for the laser (so I wasn't paying by session but an upfront cost with financing. It helped since I knew I would need more sessions than a cis woman lmao). I've only done it for my face and my stomach/chest so far but I'd like to eventually do my legs when I have more money. >_< The laser has made a huge difference, it's just not perfect. I don't get any hair on my upper lip any more but I do still have like a "shadow" of darker skin from where the hair used to be. A lot of the growth I still get is a lot lighter and thinner which is nice. It just sucks that I still have to shave every couple of days, but it's a lot less hair so it's way easier and I don't cut myself anymore. Anyway sorry this has been kinda ranty.
npnp!! face and body hair is bullshit annoying and ranting to each other about it helps haha 💜
yeah, face, arms, back, legs, and torso for me... my folks gave me european bear genes unfortunately.
maybe i'll try a combination for the larger areas... part of the problem with electro for me is individual hairs are so thick that it takes sometimes 9-10 zaps on a single one to fully destroy it. if it was thinner and weaker it would probably go a lot faster!
i also have the shadow issue, but that's the one thing i've been very happy about with electro - the area where i've had most of it so far isn't bluish at all any more. i'd be a lot more fine shaving every day if it wasn't for that damned shadow.
Oh noooo... I got like hispanic genes so it was a lot more spotty. I also got lucky and estrogen/spiro has actually reduced my body hair a lot, especially for my thighs. I haven't had any laser on them but they barely get hair anymore which is great. (Wish my calves would do the same!!) I also used to get back hair and shoulder hair, and I technically still do but it's so light and thin that it doesn't bug me like it used to.
And yeah the shadow sucks so much ;a; I'm lucky that I only have it on my lip (I don't have any shadow on my chin or cheeks thank goodness). I feel bad for anyone who has it worse than me, my dysphoria makes my stomach turn over like 3 little hairs that grow on my chin I hate iiiit. Dx
true, i forgot hormones help with it! i think mine's gotten a little thinner in the ~2-3 months since i started HRT? but i'm sure it'll be more pronounced in a year or two! hopefully i can save myself some pain and expense that way
i wish you luck ridding yourself of the final few stragglers for good 🫂 there's only so many of em in there!!
ahh yeah! I didn't see a lot of improvement with body hair until after about a year or so. I'm about to hit my two years so I've definitely come a long way!!
Also I forgot to mention about the pain with laser.. it is definitely painful but I am very sensitive and have a low pain tolerance and I've been able to bear it for the sake of getting rid of my hair, so I don't think it's that bad in the grand scheme of things. (It definitely hurts though, it kinda feels like getting a shot)
And thank you!! I hope I can get rid of all of them someday ;0;
yeah electrolysis is slow as fuck. i’m like four months in and basically haven’t seen any changes. it does work but it takes forever. i think they need to hit each follicle like 8-10 times before they stop coming back, and each follicle takes a couple months to start coming back, so …. do the math. tbh i think 18 months is optimistic (my provider said 2 years at 1hr/week and i suspect even that is optimistic…)
yeah, over time i've kind of started expecting 2+ years. my neck has been "almost done" for a good 2 months now, feels like it just keeps coming back. it's definitely thinner, like significantly, but it's wild to me how she's been fully over that area like 4 times and there's still a lot left.
