the same comic has a backup story about "THE CAT MAN" who seems to just be an ordinary guy who dresses in drag and lets his cat scratch criminals while disguised as a nice old lady so they can drop dead of poison a few hours later. i think this may be the ideal golden age comicbook.

something I like about these old comics is that the line between "costumed hero" and "unusually specific serial killer" is a lot looser than it would later become
i forget if stardust the super wizard is from the same era, but he definitely toes that line as well, on what can only be called a "grand" scale
