Im still bewildered people were adamantly believing him saying he was being offered too little for the MD Mini 2 when freaking Captain Tsubasa was an arm and a leg to license with all the VA.
No way in hell anyone with a brain would think translations with poop jokes and the R slur would be worth what Vic would ask for.
the producers in charge of those products do stress to the licensors that they're physical-only anniversary items with relatively small print runs, in the hopes of getting a favourable licensing arrangement, so I don't necessarily disbelieve that they didn't want to pay whatever price was set by VI, or that they tried to negotiate a lower price or whatever
what I don't get is why people want to believe there might not also be other extenuating factors, like "the people who own and made the game don't want to keep paying a ransom on this one loc", or "those old scripts suck and we'd be just as happy to leave them in the past", or "this guy's a pain in the ass and we won't work with him if we don't have to"
I don't have strong opinions about WD's output—I wasn't buying or tracking their work in real time and wouldn't have been interested in most of it anyhow, and by the time I was aware they had a following, VI had assumed the role of message-board hagiographer—but I do find it funny that so many WD-brained folk seem to have an axe to grind with Limited Run Games et al... punishing the child for the sins of the father, perhaps

And it's not even the loc! It's just the voices! Game Arts own the scripts now, but he knows that he can block most rereleases just by happening to own the voice acting rights.
that too! iirc they investigated an undub but there were too many instances of unsubbed dialogue keeping them from just cutting the VA
my initial post was a reaction to some jackass with an axe to grind insinuating that an upcoming collection of old Telenet RPGs is AI-translated, all because they didn't use the existing WD script for one of the games, and dear lord is this shit tiresome
