A whole mess of cool stuff arrived in the mail today, one of which is this mid-80s doujinshi from Original Figure Factory, a small group of fans working to promote the early garage kit building hobby. Alongside kit reviews are overviews of modeling materials and paints (comically out of date, but interesting to see what was available at the time), various bits of advice from the group members on kitbuilding, profiles of the group’s members (including Nobuyoshi Ochi, active on Twitter as @ochi_0033 and still painting Lums to this day), all accompanied with delightfully 80s illustrations on every page. Perhaps the most interesting bit is a section written by Kitakyushu Piero, one of the most prolific early garage kit makers active well into the early aughts.

Those Original Figure Factory books are absolutely great, even if the information is a bit out of date. Lots of great artwork and insight into the era. They also released a few kits of their own over the years and at least a couple of the guys involved went on to some interesting endeavors (his name escapes me, but one of the group's leaders had a role in the development of the Tamagotchi).
