"Shake it up, please."

Song: Stop Violence!
Artist: Herbie Hammock & His Band (Hiroyuki Togo)
Genre: FUNKY JAZZ GROOVE
First appearance: beatmania 3rdMIX

No prizes for guessing the musician whose work this track is a homage to. Obvious pastiche aside, it's a cool track, and an early example of the genres of beatmania music expanding. Plus it's got some fun animations. A penguin playing saxophone! Now I've seen it all!

Another perfect example of a song with (and titled after) one of the widely used samples from the many sample CDs that were pretty much the backbone of so much game music back then; I still associate the titular sample with the likes of House of the Dead 1 and SmackDown 2, but this one's a classic as well, very distinctive of the early Beatmania sound. The remix from much later is a total banger as well; I imagine that might show up eventually on the page, for sure.

It's also notable cuz it did show up on both international Beatmania releases (the EU PS1 one and the US PS2 one), and while it never got crossed over to DDR, the aforementioned remix did, on DDR Universe (Xbox 360), but they sadly removed the Herbie Hancock reference, they only credited Togo. It's simultaneously amusing because, on DDR Universe 2, they had an actual Herbie Hancock tune on it (Rockit, unsurprisingly), so I wonder if it was partially an intentional choice or just a complete coincidence.
