One of those competitive multiplayer issues that I think lots of people are on one side (vehemently against) or the other (lukewarm support). I'm in the lukewarm support of, because I enjoy playing in matches that aren't effortless. I like being on the edge of my toes and having to compete to win, it's WHY I play competitive shooters in the first place, BUT I would like to play with and against players that are my skill level, not just against a team with the same or similar average skill level of my team. Those are TWO DIFFERENT things.
I should not have to drop 34/50 kills alone just for the match to be close. I shouldn't have to do MORE THAN HALF of the work. It shouldn't FEEL like I'm doing work.
When I'm playing casual game modes in Halo Infinite, I end up playing with players who are (with the lack of better terms) completely ineffective and most of the time detrimental to the match. But the enemy team will be competent. So the match is really a 1 (me) against 4 (and possibly more depending on the game mode and my team.)
I DON'T THINK MY TEAMMATES SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING. I just think they should be playing against players their skill level. NO ONE benefits from these kind of matches. My teammates aren't learning anything, the enemy team is playing against ONE player, and I'm having an awful time playing ALONE against 4 people.
The REASON for this is the way SBMM is being handled: instead of matching me against players of similar skill, it's building a team then building a team with a similar average skill. I'M SKEWING MY TEAM AND IT'S RUINING THE MATCH MAKING. I know it's not ONLY occurring to me too. Just DON'T match make using the skill of the TEAM, use the skill of the PLAYERS.
I'd rather have longer wait times for matches that are MORE VALUABLE AND FUN, than have short wait times for matches that are a WASTE OF TIME.
