if the English language were based on my specific mode of speech, all words that end in "a" would instead be followed by "of" by 2040
We are heartbroken to share, by request of his family, that Jack Lance passed away suddenly on May 1st. His obituary is here: https://www.douglassfh.com/obituary/zachary-polansky.
Jack was one of the founding members of Puzzlers Club. It goes without saying that he was among the brightest lights in the puzzle community, leaving us with astounding puzzles (https://jacoblance.wordpress.com/), wildly creative games (https://jacklance.github.io/), and a plethora of fantastic wordplay finds. His brilliance and wit made him one of a kind.
The visitation and funeral service mentioned in the obituary are open to anyone who would like to attend (Saturday, May 6th in Lexington, MA). We encourage donations in his memory to the MIT Mystery Hunt (http://puzzles.mit.edu/).
pissed off at this fucking world. jack lance was a genius and had barely started
there's basically no point complaining about Big Company Announces They're Making Things Worse For No Reason. if they cared what you thought, they'd've asked you before they decided on it.
you'd think it's always like that, but that would imply a world where capitalist bosses actually think about what they're doing.
Truth is, bosses - like everyone in a business - are blinkered. They spend their whole days cooped up with people that either think exactly like them or don't give enough of a fuck to assert themselves on the opposite. They will absolutely take incredibly stupid decisions figuring it'll all be OK, then desperately backpedal once they realize that no, everyone hates the incredibly stupid decision and we're gonna lose so much money
Witness the recent OGL issue on WOTC [https://www.polygon.com/23574677/dungeons-dragons-dnd-ogl-canceled-wizards-fans-win]. They tried to claw back the open license on D&D's core rules, and the backlash was so bad they actually went the other way and released it under Creative Commons.
(todo: add paragraphs on all the awful people and lobbying groups businesses listen to, and how to adopt their strategies)
