hi hello, hello hi and welcome! someone who's more familiar with both the fediverse and cohost both might be more qualified to make comparisons and contrasts. but yeah, cohost has no algorithmic discovery and also no global feed (as you've discovered, the "global feed" tag is just another tag). generally speaking, the easiest way to build a front page that you like is to use tags to find people you like, and people to find tags you like. you will get a feel for posting styles in time as you find your niche!
